Paraben-Free

What are paraben's?

They are mainly used as a perservitive. Researches have linked parabens to declining sperm count and breast cancer.

In the 1990’s parabens were deemed Xenoestrogens. They mimic estrogen in the body. They are easily absorbed through your skin and can be detected in blood and urine samples a few hours after application.

About 85% of cosmetics contain parabens. Shylo Victoria Fragrance takes pride in producing paraben free products.

Cruelty-Free

What is animal cruelty?

Testing products on animals to see what reaction occurs.

Species of animals used for testing:

-Cats

-Dogs

-Guinea pigs

-Mice

-Monkeys

-Sheep

-Cattle

-Beaver

-Hamsters

-Pigs

-Rabbits

-Rats

For skin and eye irritation tests, chemicals are rubbed onto the shaved skin or dropped into eyes.

Chemical substances are repeatedly force fed to animals. These tests are preformed so researchers can look for signs of general illness or specific health hazards such as cancer or birth defects. These tests can last weeks or months.

At the end of some tests, the animals are killed, normally by asphyxiation, neck-breaking or decapitation.

In one year, between 2008 and 2009 the number of animals used for experimentation in Canada jumped from 2,272,815 to 3,375,027, an increase of 1,102,212. In 2019, the number reached 4,562,522.

Testing on animals is not mandatory, there are other alternatives to testing products. One of my concerns is, why are we using such harsh chemicals that we need to test how harmful they really are? And why should an animal have die? Especially when there is more cost effective alternatives to testing!
